In a piezo-based shutter, there are two piezo-based actuators. The movement is based on the special features of the piezo crystal, expansion/contraction in relation to the voltage applied. CEDRAT actuators are elliptic shaped; the movement of the actuator is vertical to movement of the piezo crystal.
CEDRAT Technologies developed the fast piezo shutter in the photo. The shutter is based on two actuators with an optical head. This component provides a compact solution with minimal jitter for an X ray beam.
The Cedrat Technologies (CTEC) Fast Piezoelectric Shutters FPS have
been developed to solve the Magnetic Shutters reliability issues.
